Summer in Anderson, SC is about exciting as it sounds. It gets relatively quiet since the majority of students are gone home. There isn't an excessive amount of entertainment. Its been really hot up until this past week. Fairly often, I wish I were somewhere more exciting. Like I said before, I spend a lot of time volunteering at church and working at the coffee shop downtown.
There's a lot to appreciate here though. It just takes a deeper look.
Seeing Ike across the way while I'm working always makes my day. He is 91 years old and has his own little shoe shining business that he has had for 20+ years. He will talk to anyone and everyone that walks in the door and if you ever ask him how he's doing, its always "fine, fine, fine."
Another thing I love about Anderson is driving down Boulevard. I drive it almost every day because its the road home. I like the way the trees canopy over the road creating a tunnel. This picture doesn't even show the best section of the road but I enjoy it, nonetheless.
I was talking to a customer earlier about how sometimes it takes time away from something to realize how much you like it. So I realize neither of these things are exclusive to summer but more-so things I've noticed lately that I really like about this town. I hope as I get older I learn to be more aware of the little things.
